I am someone who needs creative outlets to stay sane. Whether it is music, art or anykind of craft, making makes me happy. It has always been this way and I imagine it always will be. I love the process from start to finish, from researching what needs to go into making whatever new project I have decided on to the finished result, even if it didn't come out the way I expected. It is all part of the learning process. I also love meeting and talking with peole who share this passion.
My Journey:
I have been making things since I was very young, whether it was helping my father and grandfather build a treehouse, making myself a cardboard jetpack, a miniture remote control delivery robot from mecano and a cake tin, a garden bench, a wood framed shed and after watching a documentary on Douglas Barder when I was 11 a Spitfire.
As a young adult I laboured for a local landscaper, this evolved into working on sheds, stables and barns, from there I worked on houses (listed and not), from there carpentry as I was drawn to woring with wood. After that I took some sort courses in cabinet making and antique restoration.
After this I worked at a furniture shop that would also bespoke the new furniture it sold, make furniture and restore antiques. After some time there I left to go out on my own and have been working as a sole trader ever since. I also took on working one day a week at a saw mill/joinery workshop whch was undoubtedly my favourite out of all my employed jobs.
